Learn the secrets of portraiture.

What is a skin tone? How to capture character? I love to talk while I’m painting to explain the process and I’m happy to answer questions. I can accommodate up to 10 people in my studio in Reigate or come to your venue. A demonstration takes about 2 hours with a 20 minute break for tea and coffee.

Most demonstrations are from a photo of someone I know or a public figure but you can pick your own subject if you want, or one of the party can sit for the demonstration. Just let me know.

Quick Watercolour Portrait workshop

Do you have a favourite picture? It could be a family member, human or animal. Even if you can’t draw this method will work for you. Just bring along an A4 print out of the picture and then you can either draw the image freehand or transfer the image onto a piece of high quality watercolour paper, using tracing paper. The next stage is to apply washes of watercolour in a loose and expressive way. After a break for the watercolour to dry, you can use a pen to outline the features and give the painting more ‘Oomph’.

You will need to allow about 3 hours for this workshop with a break, to allow the paint to dry. I can accommodate up to 6 people in my studio or come to your venue.
